Description
Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey is a tilt-rotor aircraft jointly designed and manufactured by Bell and Boeing. The tilt-rotor has the vertical lift capability of a helicopter, but also has the higher speed, longer range and higher speed of a fixed-wing propeller aircraft. The advantage of lower fuel consumption, the speed is up to 500 kilometers per hour. The V-22 design, based on Bell's XV-3 and XV-15, began development in the early 1980s and entered service with the U.S. Marine Corps in 2007 to replace the well-established CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter (CH-46 Sea Knight) rescue and combat missions.
